Domain Ferrey Montangerand, from generation to generation :
The 30 ha domain has been belonging to the same family for 4 generations. Currently, the two sons are also working with their father. Future is secured!
The domain is perfectly located, on the borderline of the Burgundy area and Beaujolais area. A good sunniness, a mild climate but also the exceptional diversity of the ground allows the production of high quality wines.
Way of production
This family has a very environmental and quality based approach of their work:
- pesticides and chemicals are almost never used
- wineyards are ploughed and not chemically treated
- wineyards is dressed in rising moon only
- Biodynamic approach according to Steiner is introduced little by little.
- Cremant receives a weekly and hand made ˇ°Batonnageˇ±.
- Content (Beton , new oak, Inox) are chosen and renewed according to what best favours the wine.
Rewards
The domain has received many years among the most prestigious awards in France.
- Silver medal of the Union Agricole and Viticole (UAV): they finish second out of 3000 producers in this annual France large competition, for two of their products, the years they competed (2002-2004).
- Gold Burgundia 2002-2003-2004 for their Givry
- Best selection in France according to Hachette guide in 2003
Cuv¨¦e sp¨¦ciale
The producer put a real importance on traditions and is making a ˇ°cuv¨¦e sp¨¦cialeˇ± where everything is done by hand without the help of any mechanics .Each single piece of the grape is selected manually, and the wine is put in old style of bottle that favours the taste.
This way of production close to Nature, this traditional French style, this hand made product could suit the Estonian Taste very much.
2005
2005 was a very good year in France in this area and you can already order this millesime .It would be put in bottle in September and can be delivered in Estonia from November 2006 on. Be patient, these excellent wines will be available soon!
